My Favorite Spots in South End

I can barely keep up with this neighborhood anymore, who is with me? This is the most poppin’ neighborhood in Charlotte filled with top restaurants, coffee shops and cocktail bars. You will not run out of options in this neighborhood, but of course I want to point you to the best the city has to offer, so buckle in! Here are a few of my favs!

 1. Yunta

A fan favorite in the city and for good reason! This restaurant brings the flavors and the vibes. By far the best ceviche in town along with Peruvian cuisine. You’ll always find it packed and the energy is so infectious! Enjoy for girls night out, date night or even solo at the bar!

2. Stablehand

Back in the day, I used to live at this coffee shop. It was always consistent in 3 areas:

  1. Exceptional coffee
  2. Work vibes
  3. Delicious breakfast & snacks!

It is always laid back and everyone is pretty much focused on work and keeping it low key. On the weekends you will find more connections, families, and what feels like a mini coffee shop party!

3. Indaco

Fun fact—I worked for Indaco as a server when they opened back in 2019! Indaco has always held a really great energy and atmosphere. The decor in the restaurant is modern yet rustic and very warm. The bar is gorgeous and really sets the scene for nestling in and stayin’ awhile. You will find wood-fired pizzas, seasonal menus, and modern Italian dishes.

4. Paletas Morelia

If you know, you know. This place rocks. I know the owners personally, and this Miami-born and bred concept has changed the ice cream game. This is a build-your-own paleta experience with vegan, gluten-free, and dairy-free options. Pick it, dip it, top it. The quality of the product is AMAZING, and it is so refreshing in the warmer months.

5. Lincoln Street Kitchen and Cocktails

Recently featured on Where to Eat Charlotte for being a 100% seed oil-free restaurant—which is VERY exciting! This restaurant is totally underrated, and I believe the food is in the top-ranked spots in the city. The steak and frites were next level—the fries are cooked in beef tallow, which gives them a rich depth of flavor. I am drooling right now.

6. Trolley Barn

It is undeniable that this fermentory & food hall from the team behind Legion crushes it when it comes to food. You will find shareables like duck fat chicken wings, smoked pork queso dip, separate vegetarian and gluten-free menus (which is AWESOME), tins, salads, handhelds, and full-blown entrees. They have it all. Oh, and the beer is top-notch!

7. Sixty Vines

I think I dined here over 20 times when they first opened and even celebrated my birthday here! Sixty Vines is a vibe. Another restaurant that stays very busy because of the undeniable energy in the space. They have over 60 wines on their sustainable tap system where you can choose your own adventure with a wine flight—which is the way to go. Their pasta also hits every single time. There are so many reasons to dine here, trust me and just make it happen. You’ll see why it’s so popular!

A recent new favorite of mine! The team behind Que Hospitality is putting love and attention to detail into everything at this restaurant. You will find Spanish tapas, paella, a 100% Spanish wine list with wines you won’t find anywhere else in NC, along with a brunch on the weekends that the locals are going crazy for. Two words—Drag Brunch!

9. Vicente

One of the top bakeries in the city and known for their delectable croissants. Locally owned and operated by husband duo Sam Chappelle and Yerman Carrasquero. This space is quaint and VERY busy in the mornings! They also offer delicious coffee drinks to pair with your pastries!

10. Salted Melon Market & Eatery

Salted Melon is a staple in South End for many reasons—the first one being… it has EVERYTHING! Coffee, breakfast, lunch, dinner, cocktails, snacks, wine, desserts, the list goes on! They offer healthier eats ranging from wraps, bowls, and salads. This is also an awesome locally-owned spot to get a bit of work done or meet up with a co-worker for lunch!
